Rutilated Smoky Quartz: polished point - Phantom (Madagascar)

This lovely polished smoky quartz point has been in my personal collection for some years. I bought it because of the unusual whirlwind-shaped white phantoms that sit near its base. Surface markings suggest that this was a skeletal quartz before polishing; and reveals its generator formation and areas of veiling. There is one single dark reflective strand of (probably) rutile in the centre of the crystal, plus some minor inclusions of red/orange iron. The phantom layers indicate that this crystal can stimulate your thinking processes, and sweep your mind clear of anything that clutters or stifles clarity of thought (I have certainly found this to be the case when I have been working!).
