Aquamarine

Aquamarine is a blue or blue-green form of the mineral Beryl, with a strong mineral structure that can be shaped or formed with ease. It may be found as crystals, and as crystalline deposits, which are usually cut and polished into tumbled stones. The best material normally goes to the jewelry trade. All our crystals have been graded between AAA and C grade: the grade allocated has been judged according to the quality and cleanliness of the terminations and/or sides; the colour and clarity within the crystal; the presence of special features that add to its interest; and the degree of ground-mass or internal imperfections present. Those that have very good clarity, colour and structure are classified as AAA; those with more than a few imperfections are classified as C. Most are in the A-AAA range.
The name aquamarine name means "water of the sea", and of course this makes it a crystal that works well as a cleansing stone, and in working with all aspects of emotional balance and healing. Aquamarine is probably one of the best choices for wearing or using at the throat chakra, but can also be used at the heart and High Heart (if blue-green) or at the 3rd eye or Soma centre if a clear blue. I have a pendant I often wear when teaching, because if I talk a lot my throat gets quite tired and sore. I find that this helps me keep going longer, and not be so hoarse the next day! Most people who are water signs will like this crystal, although the more "wafty" types may find it is not grounding enough for them, and using it may promote even greater "waftiness" - which they may love - but which isn't such a great idea (!) when we still have to live in the real world. Having said that however, some of the crystals we have for sale include aspects of Black Tourmaline in crystalline form within their matrix, or as attachments to them. The grounding and cleansing attributes of the tourmaline really helps the work you can accomplish with the aquamarine become assimilated with more comfort and ease. The other useful attribute of Aquamarine is in its cooling properties, which can work at any level, whether you have a fever, or are emotionally, mentally or spiritually over heated or extended. This can act like a nice cool shower, and help balance and recalibrate the energy systems when they are stuck on "full-on".
