Lapis Lazuli is a sodium aluminium silicate with various trace minerals and variable inclusions of pyrite and white calcite. Its hardness is 5-6. The finest Lapis comes from Afghanistan, but is also found in Chile and Russia. Lapis has been prized by ancient civilisations, especially the Ancient Egyptians, as well as the Sumerians and the Chinese.
Lapis Lazuli can provide a deep connection with some of the archetypal energies of Ancient Egypt and with the wisdom and old magic of that civilisation. Its deep blue colour with golden inclusions reminds one of the night sky and so also is a great connector to the starry realms from which humanity originates, and to the ancient races that were amongst the early inhabitants of Earth. Lapis is an excellent stone for working with the 3rd eye and throat charkas, and can activate the intuitive mind and psychic abilities. Pyrite adds the golden-yellow Ray to these energies, promoting clear thought, clarity in communication and enabling comprehensive grounding of the information / knowledge thus attained to occur. Calcite helps by clearing blockages to allow the energies to be received and grounded with less difficulty. Lapis Lazuli is also effective at clearing the Higher chakras and making connection to the Higher Self. This permits access to past life information and our Akashic record, allowing us to regain understanding or knowledge from past lifetimes that may be of use to us now, if appropriate.
