Rutilated Quartz: pyramid

This small pyramid has been cut from Clear Quartz, that is crammed with needle-fine hairs of rutile, many of them curved. The rutile is mainly silver in colour, but where the titanium has grown through a fault line and is closer to the surface these have oxidised into an ox-blood red. The corners and apex are not perfect, in part due to the titanium deposits, but it looks lovely when sitting on a Light Box.
