Herkimer Diamond: crystal

This good sized Herkimer Diamond crystal has one imperfect termination that is etched and pitted down one face, showing where it became detached from its groundmass. The other termination is missing, and was probably lost during the extraction process. There is a small cluster of tiny crystals adhering to one side, along with some surface deposits of grey and cream groundmass with traces of black anthraxolite; and some deep internal fractures with veiling.
