Quartz sometimes grows with a higher than usual water content, which can result in an opalised form of quartz, sometimes called chalcedony quartz, or foggy quartz or girasol. Sometimes mineral deposits of manganese create the most beautiful dendritic markings within the quartz that look like ferns or mosses. These form very rarely and so dendritic quartz is quite expensive. The water content makes these crystals very good at supporting one through a range of emotional issues, and can be especially useful in instances where storing up emotions might cause physical dis-ease. They are also very supportive during any grieving process, whether in instances of physical death or following the "death" of a thing such as an ideal, a stage in life, or a relationship. Their plant-like nature also help us connect with the Earth and with all members of the plant Kingdom.
