Indigo Gabbro comes from Madagascar, and is a dark coarse-grained igneous rock. Much of our planet's oceanic crust is made from gabbro, which forms at mid-ocean ridges; and there are many different looks to this mineral. The type found in Madagascar has a black base with lilac, purple and white patches, dots and swirls, which can show some shimmer in certain lights. It is also quite dense and heavy, and feels very solid in the hand. This material has been called 'Mystic Merlinite' by Robert Simmons, although I feel the energy is very different to merlinite! To me it feels more like the energies of Merlin's twin-flame, Lady Morgana; who, despite being seen as his adversary, shares many of Merlin's qualities, albeit in absolute contrast. She understands how 'magic' (and Light) may be manipulated in infinite ways, some of which might be regarded as 'negative': this does not mean she is 'bad', but enables them both to hold and work within the full range of potentials for alchemy and magic; transformation and manifestation 'As One'. She too is a very powerful mage, and in the lifetime she showed herself to me as a Druid of great ability she explained: "I am One with all things, and they are One with me". This then, I feel, is the essence of Indigo Gabbro, which gives us the ability to identify, recognise and accept that everything we encounter has a part to play in Life; and that, ultimately, each of us creates the reality that in turn creates our world - which is therefore both of our making and our choosing.
