This form of quartz is a special quartz only found in Brazil, which contains minute inclusions of rare minerals including hafnium, barium and strontium. This gives it a slightly foggy or cloudy appearance, which is slightly opalescent. This mineral, when subject to gamma iradiation, transforms it into a mineral called "Ouro Verde", which is a rather acid-golden-green colour. Unfortunately since then both names have been used with gay abandon, and one cannot be sure if one is getting the genuine article or simply a form of girasol or "foggy" quartz (likewise with Ouro Verde Quartz, which term seems to be in common use nowadays for some forms of quartz that are simply natural citrine!) I suspect that true metamorphosis quartz (and hence Ouro Verde) has long ago run out!
Having said that, this quartz does have many of the attributes of the true mineral and, as its name suggests, this stone will support us through times of change on multiple levels in a focused and positive manner. Its translucency and watery nature also suggests its value in supporting the emotional body and the sacral chakra.
