Apatite - Blue-Green: crystal (Russia)

Natural Apatite crystal, blue-green in colour. This crystal is terminated, but at some time another mineral (probably calcite) became removed from it, resulting in a deep impression that spans the top; and one of the sides is also incomplete, again showing where material has become detached. Apatite crystals that come from this area of Russia (Lake Baikal) classically have smooth surfaces with rounded edges, which is the result of the apatite crystallizing simultaneously with the mineral surrounding it (predominantly calcite): this gives the surfaces and edges a greasy / glassy appearance, and less surface definition than might be expected - it has not been heated or treated in anyway. I chose this crystal specifically for its source, as the region around Lake Baikal is also the sole source of Seraphinite, and I wanted to see how they might work together.
